Simple 4-step process

How Screamer LTE Home Internet Works

Whether you pick plug-and-play LTE or installed LTE-Advanced with CPE, getting connected at home is a straightforward, four-step process:

  1. Check coverage. Send your street address or complex name via WhatsApp or call our team. We confirm LTE / LTE-A coverage and recommend the right option for your home.
  2. Choose your package. Pick uncapped LTE, a capped bundle, or an LTE-Advanced speed (10, 20 or 30 Mbps) based on how your household streams, games and works online.
  3. Get your SIM, router or CPE installed. For standard LTE we courier your SIM and router. For LTE-A a technician visits to install the outdoor CPE, align it for best signal and connect your Wi-Fi router.
  4. Activate & stay online. Once your SIM is activated, you’re live. Use it as your main home internet or keep it as a reliable backup whenever fibre or copper goes down.

LTE Home Internet – Frequently Asked Questions

Is LTE good enough for home internet in South Africa?

Yes – in areas with good coverage, fixed LTE or LTE-Advanced can handle everyday streaming, video calls and work-from-home. It’s especially useful where fibre hasn’t been built yet, or as a backup line for fibre and wireless. Speeds and stability do depend on signal quality, tower congestion and router placement, which is why we recommend LTE-A with outdoor CPE where possible.

What’s the difference between LTE and LTE-Advanced (LTE-A)?

Standard LTE uses a SIM and router to connect to nearby towers. LTE-Advanced uses more advanced radio features and often an outdoor CPE (antenna) mounted on your home. That usually gives stronger signal, more consistent speeds and lower latency, which you’ll feel in streaming, gaming and video calls.

How much speed do I need for LTE home internet?

For 1–2 light users, 10 Mbps is normally fine. For small families that stream HD and work from home, 20 Mbps is a sweet spot. If you have several heavy streamers or gamers online at once, 30 Mbps or higher is safer. Remember: latency and signal quality often matter as much as raw Mbps.

Is uncapped LTE really uncapped?

Our uncapped LTE and LTE-A packages do not hard-cap your data – you can use them all month. Like other South African ISPs, we may apply fair-use policies to prevent abuse and keep the network usable for everyone. We’re upfront about any thresholds in your specific package – ask our team if you’re unsure.

Can I use LTE as a backup for my fibre or wireless internet?

100%. Many customers use 20 Mbps uncapped LTE or an LTE-A line as a backup connection. When fibre or wireless has a fault, you simply fail over to LTE so your Wi-Fi and smart devices stay online. We can help you choose a router or firewall that makes this automatic.

What equipment do I need for Screamer LTE or LTE-A?

For standard LTE you need a compatible LTE router and our SIM card. For LTE-Advanced we supply and install an outdoor CPE (antenna) plus a WiFi router. We handle activation, configuration and will advise if your existing router can be re-used.

How long does it take to get connected?

For standard LTE, once coverage is confirmed and paperwork is complete, we can usually ship and activate within a few working days. LTE-Advanced installs depend on technician scheduling and your area, but most homes are live within a week or two from approval, provided access and paperwork are in order.

Can I move my LTE or LTE-A service if I change address?

You can move standard LTE as long as coverage at the new address is suitable. LTE-A can often be moved, but may require a new site assessment and install. Chat to us before you move so we can plan the best option and avoid downtime.
